Zhuhai-Guangdong Province, China

These photographs were taken in March, 2001 on a school visit with over 100 children.  We visited a place called the Palace Theme Park which is a replica of the Forbidden  City in Beijing. We went to the restaurant in the park for lunch before allowing the children to spend some money in the souvenier stalls.

One of the stalls next to the restaurant had two stuffed marine turtles for sale.

It is, of course, illegal to sell them in China. The stall-holder gave HK$1100 as his first asking price.

This, naturally, could be bargained down.

(American dollars=$140.00, British Pounds=£95,00)
